Consumer-Generated Content More Valuable than Corporate Media?

MWW Group today launched a Web log marketing practice, Blog 360. Here is an article in Clickz about the launch. Obviously interesting news in the PR/blogging community, and was sure to get some coverage since blogs are the 'hot' topic.

What I found interesting was a quote in the article from Steve Rubel:

"Creating a blog-specific practice is terrific, but it's a temporary solution. In the long term, we have to train our PR people to understand that consumer-generated content has equal weight as corporate media."

That last statement is the real kicker, consumer-generated content has equal weight as corporate media. I would say in some cases consumer-generated content has more weight than corporate media. We are living in a world where a review on Amazon by a total stranger has more influence over your purchase than the manufacturer's marketing.
