Glenn Reynolds has a post about the time requirements of blogging.
There are two downsides to blogging. One is that it can fill up your time, one five-minute chunk after another. The other -- much worse -- is that it forces you to pay attention to the news, which is usually depressing, infuriating, or frightening, or some combination of all three.
But the upside to blogging is that it can be done in five-minute chunks.
Now Glenn is not your typcial blogger. I usually schedule time to check the RSS feeds in the morning and then later in the evening. Then as time permits I will review select feeds during the day. I try to mix my blogging with a few 'my thoughts/advice only' posts and posts that references from other sources, with my riff added on.
At any given time I am doing research on at least three to four substantial posts that are more like a white paper or an article than your typical blog post.
Lately though I have been doing quite a bit of consulting with PR firms and companies on utilizing blogs....but more on that later.
