The Airbus A-380 made its maiden flight today. Airliners.net has a photo. There is also a great deal of discussion going on in the forum.
Pretty cool.
Oh yeah, I am not into the whole Boeing vs. Airbus feud. I am just a latent fan of civil aviation. When Boeing rolls out the Dreamliner I'll post about that as well.

New giant airbus manufactured in France Posted by T. O'Rourke at 2006-08-10 01:00 AM
I have no desire to be in a confined area with 550 to 800 people. Not only is it a cattle call corral bus, but sharing a confined area with various diseases, attitudes, noise and odors is offensive. Add the thrill a terrorist would experience on blowing up and killing that many innocents. You are out of your minds for the almightly dollar and all the marketing in the world including calling it "Elvis" will not fool the average American. If the future turns to all huge planes, I will not fly any more. I can live with that.

I have to agree with O'Rourke's post above.....
I took a vacation with the family to Mexico over Thanksgiving Holiday, and the flight from San Diego to our final destination was horribly cramped, sick kids coughing all over us, etc. And this was on a plane slightly larger than your average Lear jet. I can't imagine how awful it would be to have upwards of 800 people on board.
