Athletes Blogging Outside the League

+ Posted by Josh Hallett on 05.02.05 // 01:52 PM

Church of the Customer pointed the way to a blog by Ben Roethlisberger of the Pittsburgh Steelers. It is refreshing to see Ben doing this on his own. Some athletes associated with the major leagues, i.e. NFL, NBA, MLB do blog, but it is sometimes part of the overall media plan for the league. For example the NBA has the Blog Squad. Ben is working hard to build his brand and fan base. What will be interesting to see is if his 'blog-fans' move with him if he ever is traded.

Like Jackie Huba from CotC I am also a transplanted Steelers fan.

Josh, good point about whether his blog-fans will move if he gets traded.

But let's just hope that scenario NEVER happens!

One for the Thumb in '05!
