Much talk about UPS marketing exec Robert Manning's comments about the blog-hype. Or perhaps noise according to Ross. Steve Rubel felt FedEx could use this as an advantage.
From reviewing my blog stats I can draw two very un-scientific conclusions:
1. FedEx is listening to the blogosphere. On a few occasions where I have mentioned FedEx there is usually a visit from a FedEx.com user. Looking at the referral URL, the person is monitoring a watchlist for 'FedEx'. Somebody at FedEx is monitoring what's being said about them.
2. Visitors from UPS.com come to look at my posts about the Airbus A380. Specifically the pictures.
What does this mean to me? Nothing. Sure I could say I am pro-FedEx since they 'get blogging' or I could say I am pro-UPS since they are airplane geeks.

Well, I would like to say that with FedEx the quality of service is much lower than with UPS. I have a package currently that has for the second day in a row, not been delivered by FedEx to my house. I had instructions sent through their customer service center to have the package delivered at a later time. I have also left my phone number and have not received any info other than the post it on my door. I have had to dig this info out my self.
After contacting the FedEx customer service they stated they could not directly contact their drivers, however in UPS I know they can and will make repeat attempts for deliver on the same day if a customer requests a later delivery time, even for a service that FedEx is trying to gain territory in, Ground. UPS will still offer this high quality service regardless of the level of shipping serivicer requested, ie NDA, Seconday, or ground.
I have learned my lesson and will not ship FedEx again.
