You Can't See the Shuttle Launch from Atlanta

Living in Central Florida can spoil you when it comes to shuttle launches. Each time the shuttle would launch I could walk out the door and look towards the east coast and see the tell-tale smoke trail. Of course it was about 100 miles away, but you could still see it.

This morning, in Atlanta, I caught myself thinking, 'Where am I going to be at 10:38 am? Will I be able to sneak out for a second and watch the launch? ... No wait, I'm in Atlanta, I won't be able to see it."

Josh:

Today's launch was beautiful. I enjoyed the view from my front porch in downtown Orlando, mug of coffee in hand and a computer in my lap (The Orlando Sentinel reporter Robyn Shelton blogged the launch from NASA at http://blogs.orlandosentinel.com/news_custom_space_shuttle/).

The only distraction during the launch came from a woman who walked her dog periolously close to my front lawn, but when she saw me, she led the dog in the other direction so he could "do his business" somewhere other than my property. I'm not sure if there is anything much more embarrassing than having to pick up a dog's "business" while you know someone is watching. ;-)
