During the World Series coverage on Tampa's Fox 13 last night the local Jeep dealers ran a regional commerical. The commercial talked about a contest where the grand prize was a trip to Cancun, Mexico.
Considering that Cancun might have received 65 inches of rain and withstood 20+ hours of hurricane winds, that does not sound like such a 'grand' prize.

Hopefully there's flexibility on the departure date ;)

Yesterday a young man came to my apartment selling magazine subscriptions for a pre-college program that he was in. Whoever sold the most subscriptions would win a trip to Cancun, and it was pretty obvious he was desperate to be that person. He was so excited about it and seemed clueless as to Hurricane Wilma's existence or her route. I didn't have the heart to tell him that Cancun might not be around for him to go to.
All fatalities aside, it might be a good thing that Cancun is out of commission for awhile. In recent years it's become a crazy party haven for high-school/college students. As a college student myself, I've heard about what goes on down there, and it's pretty disgusting. On the other hand, it might open the door for wild spring-breakers to hit up more familyish destinations.

They'll just head to Daytona Beach, or to Aruba.
