While driving down I-75 on Wednesday before Thanksgiving we passed this wrecked FedEx truck:

As you can see it was a two-trailer FedEx Ground truck. The second (last) trailer tipped over and dragged along the guardrail for a hundred yards or so. There were papers and packages all over the road.
What's your first thought when seeing this? It's usually "Look at all those packages" and not "I hope the driver is OK". FedEx drivers get no sympathy.
I remember the same thing happened when a FedEx plane went down in Tallahassee a few years ago. All the people I talked to wondered about the packages. I even had a few friends that lost something in that accident. One was a local doctor that had 100+ patient charts that were being delivered to the department of health. Two weeks after-the-fact he had to re-dictate all the notes. Needless to say it was difficult for him to remember all the details.
At least FedEx drivers don't need to worry about guided-missile strikes like DHL pilots.

Their drivers get no sympathy because they suck. All those people whose packages are on that truck will now ship UPS.

We suck cause we lost a truck full of freight in an accident? Chances are that the accident was caused by some cell phone yapping fool and not the FedEx driver.

3/7/06: Former FedEx man is accused of battery
Although Waukesha County Circuit Judge Kathryn W. Foster issued the jail time to Marshall A. Folger as part of a plea bargain that reduced a felony battery charge to a misdemeanor, Foster told Folger "it is my displeasure today that I took the plea."
Foster was unhappy with Folger's apparent lack of remorse for punching Jo-Ann fabric store worker Jeff Lieber in the face Dec. 30.
According to the criminal complaint in the case:
Folger, 40, of Oak Creek, asked Lieber, the store's receiving manager, to sign a delivery form for a package for Viking, a sewing machine firm that used space at the fabric store, at 16800 W. Blue Mound Road, Brookfield.
Lieber refused to sign for the package, explaining that a Viking employee had to sign.
Folger "immediately began a verbal confrontation," but Lieber continued to refuse to sign.A Viking employee eventually emerged and signed for the package. As Folger was being escorted out of the rear of the store he warned Lieber that someday he would "beat" him.
When Lieber told Folger that police would be called if he didn't leave, Folger grabbed Lieber, pulled him out the back door and punched him.
In court Monday, Lieber said that he would require a surgery if he wants to breathe right and that two of his front teeth were chipped and a third tooth is loose with a shattered root.
Foster, who noted that Folger had in the past threatened a UPS driver, ordered Folger to undergo anger management counseling and to pay $3,942 in restitution to Lieber for medical costs.

Please understand that Fedex Ground drivers who travel between states, terminal to terminal, are totaly FedUp with Fedex. Fedex wants us to hurry and then sit 24 hours praying for a load to the next terminal. Many drivers are only working ever other week as Fedex hired too many trucks for too little Freight. Think it about it... we still have to make our truck payments and house payments with only half a paycheck. All Fedex Ground trucks are owner operators... do you think under these circumstances we give a shit if your packages are late...!
