Driving home last night I passed a local fast-food restaurant that had, "Under New Management" on the sign. Isn't that code for:
We know our restaurant used to suck, but we have all new people, so give us another try!
I don't know about you, but when I see that, I am not to hip on giving them another try.

I like seeing that. When I see it, I usually give them one more shot and if they have changed, I may begin visiting again. If not, I complain loudly (like Bob on Progress Energy).

That's a funny way of putting it, Josh! Blunt as anything. So true though.
It kind of depends on the place that is "under new management." If it used to be good and went downhill, I'll probably give it another shot in the hope that it's been restored to its original glory. I'll also give it a shot if it used to be a franchised unit of a chain and is now being managed by the chain itself, because they tend to care more about the customer experience (that is a generalization and is not always true but they do have more invested in sticking to the chain's values & practices at least).
But if I do give one more chance, it's ONLY one chance to impress me, otherwise I'm not returning.

That's pretty funny. I think the same thing when I see the "New Management" sign also.
Another bad omen is visiting an operating restaurant with a "For Sale" sign.

I have a One Month rule. New restaurants, New Chefs, and New Management get one month to get online. It takes awhile for new equipment to be worked in, new ordering procedures to get set, new staff to be fully trained. But if after one month they still suck, that's it.

Maybe I'm less cynical than you, but I just guess that someone bought it and brought in their own people.
