Two of the attendees at my recent presentation in Fort Walton Beach were from the public affairs department of the 33d Fighter Wing at Eglin Air Force Base. In the 'downtime' that afternoon before my flight, they offered to give me a tour of the base. I can do that....

The fighter wing was undergoing something called 'surge' training where the pilots would fly three sorties back-to-back-to-back. This grueling exercise helps prep them for the daily missions in Iraq. Needless to say there were plenty of F-15s moving around.
In return I spent some time with the staff helping them get set-up with RSS readers and creating watchlists to monitor the numerous milblogs and other sensitive issues they deal with on a daily basis.

Fascinating story. I like how you helped them set up RSS and watchlists for milblogs.
I created a blog for a military moms organization here in Peoria. I spent days working hard on it, and imported many photos from official military sites, and wrote sample posts, etc. No ghost blogging, but lots of initial ideas for prayers and such things.
I think when I wrote a sample prayer for the military moms blog, that's what got the leader of the cult angry. I wrote that God would not just protect our troops, but that He would keep them from gambling, sexual misconduct, drugs, various military temptations. That went over like a lead balloon. No criticism of the military was tolerated.
This is what I hate about Patriot Extremists.
They ignore our shameful outsourcing of torture, and other evils that are in any nation's military or civilian organization.
I support the troops, I have a stepson in the Army, but I protest all wars, and I criticize anything I feel like criticizing.
The military moms blog I deleted, due to disrespect and sudden disinterest. The cult leader was feeling like "we're not ready for a blog, and I'm going to stop sending emails to members".
I suspect the cult leader of military moms group was offended that the members loved the blog, and the spotlight was removed ever so slightly from her cultish figure.
Weird, huh?
