I Stand Corrected - I Will Eat at Crispers :-)

A while ago I wrote this post about why I no longer eat at Crispers restaurant. It has become quite popular. If you do a Google search for Crispers it's right up there on the first page, below the official Crispers web site. My main complaint? Crispers doesn't offer wifi, while similar chains like Panera Bread and Atlanta Bread do.

I stand corrected. Crispers now offers wifi in some select restaurants. I visited the new Lakeside Village location yesterday and found this sign on the door.

Crispers Has Wifi

I will be updating my original post.

Okay, but WiFi as a veto vote? I don't think I know anybodoy nerdy enough to open a laptop while eating with friends, and I hang out with a lot of nerds.

wow that's some pretty good marketing. Ask and you shall receive. So did the people over at crispers see your post and reply the demand accordingly? or is this all just a coincidence?

I would kind of think not (since your post is the second google search result for the restaurant), but even if Crispers didn't do it on purpose, businesses should. (I am sure a lot of major corporations do, or atleast I know celebrities do.)

What better way to find out what people are thinking than to search the medium in society where people can literally post whatever they think.

If I was in charge of marketing or pr for a business and a complaint showed up that apparently on a google search, I would be trying as hard as possible to change that opinion and get it down as quickly as possible, I guess just like Crispers did. All they had to do was set up a little wireless network. A small price to pay to get down some negative feedback that shows up on a popular search engine.

Way to go Crispers... (and congratulations on you new wi-fi hot spot)

Josh, I'm glad to hear that Crispers is taking part in this trend of providing wifi to their customers. Im from Naples, Fla. and there is a Crispers nearby in Bonita Springs. While I was home over Christmas break, I ate at Crispers three times. They did not have wifi when I was there, hopefully they do know. Panera Bread and Atlanta Bread do not have any locations in Naples, so I go to Crispers. It would have been helpful to me if they did have wifi up and running when I was there so I could have used my laptop.
At Auburn, there is a Panera Bread that offers wifi. This is a hot spot for students to come study at night and get a bite to eat, all at the same time. I think if they did not offer wifi, not as many students would even bother to go there. Now if Crispers opened up a location in Auburn and provided wifi, there would be some competition between the two chains.
I think this is a good pr/marketing move on Crispers part to attract more business partners and students to their restaurant. Many people would come to Crispers for a business lunch because they could bring their laptop and show things, such as blogs, that their company has to offer. Students also benefit from this and do use it more than some would think.
I have a suggestion for Crispers and maybe it will work like yours did. Open a Crispers in Auburn and provide wifi.

Are you seriously now guaging the quality and worthiness of a PUBLIC EATING ESTABLISHMENT based on whether or not they offer anti-social electronic outlets?!!? No mention of the PUBLIC EATING ESTABLISHMENT'S food quality, service or cleanliness?!!? Never mind the generous coupons they offer. You can't go OUT to eat in a PUBLIC RESTAURANT for an hour or so - without plugging into some machine for companionship?! Since you're driving by Crispers anyway - you could stop and place your order for TAKE OUT!!!! This is so great!!!! You could plug in at home while you eat, thus maintaining the laid back, casual atmosphere the rest of us enjoy in the active company of other living, breathing, coherent and contributing human beings. "DINING OUT" - what a concept! Unless, of course, you frequent Crispers enough to really have to get work done while dining... In which case - wi-fi should be offered at a fee! We're not talking about a coffee shop on some college campus, but rather a restuarant who's purpose is DINING! Seriously. None of us is so all-important that we can't unplug the electronic hole - for a moment in time - to plug in the pie hole!

A lot of comments to this blog are pretty stupid.

I recently moved to Lakeland. Till I can save up for a place, me and my girlfriend are restricted to living in one bedroom at her parent's place. Her parent's are old and can't afford much, so there isn't anywhere at home where I feel alone and focus to study.

Since I found out that Panera offers wifi, I went there sometime last week, and ordered some lunch, ate it, and studied some PHP web dev stuff for about 3 hours in a corner.

I think this is a wise decision, as once I get started in the real estate business and want to be able to respond to emails or do paperwork on my computer, it is nice to know that I wouldn't have to drive back to an office or home to get the job done.

Any cafe-style restaurant who wants to cater towards business focused, or people like my trying to find some space in their day should have free WIFI by now. If not they're pretty stupid and losing business.

I'm certain that people don't have efficient useage of their life if their notebook is larger than 13in 7lbs+ and feel the need to go online for a 15min lunch with friends.

Then they need a smartphone.

Better then "at some select locations", we have just completed a technology revamp at all our locations including new POS Systems and WIFI. All Crispers locations are now a WIFI hotspot, Crispers loves its customers and wants them to enjoy their visit. Whether on business or with friends and family, come in for the great food and bring your laptop or PDA..!!
