A Thing of Beauty - McLaren MP4-21

F1 cars are just great to look at. The new McLaren MP4-21 is amazing. I might just have to go to the US Grand Prix this year to see it in person.

Seeing Formula One live is awesome, but the real impact is hearing it. I've been to Melbourne for the Australian GP (nearest the get to New Zealand) several times and the sound of the cars is like nothing else, even other "stressed" race or drag car engines. 3.0l v10 engines spinning at up to 19,000rpm...

I wonder if the v8's will be as good.

I went to the USGP for first four years it was back in the states. Each F1 powerplant does have a unique note. I always remember the McLaren's sounding like a dental drill.

Lets hope everyone has tyres that work this year...

Okay, mark it down as the first time I have ever looked at anything on Hyku and felt lust in my heart. It doesn't help that when I lived in Boston, the father of two Brazilian kids who lived at the condos I concierged at was Christian Fittipaldi's main sponsor. :-)

I don't know if this will interest you, but I recently accepted an internship with a company that handles all of the Barber Motorsports events. I will be working primarily on these events and visited the Barber Motorsports Park over Christmas. The place is amazing. They have over 900 motorcycles and rotate almost 500 through the museum. Along with motorcycles they have a few old NASCAR's, Porsches and other high-performance racing cars. They also have one of the best tracks in the world. You may already know all of this, but if you don't it is a great place to check out and it is Birmingham. Their website is www.barbermotorsports.com.

I've been to one car race in my life, the first USGP at Indy. The cars are just amazing, the things they can do and the speed they do them is mind blowing.

We were sitting in turn 4 (the first turn after the intial straight for the GP race) and seeing those cars come charging down and dive into that first turn takes as much guts as skill. Another great momemt was the watching the Ferrari race in a down pour and having a first corner spin in the middle of track.

Thanks for the pictures. My second race will be the 12 Hours of Sebring in month.

OMG that car looks hideous.

For the love of christ, go and compare that to the MP4/8 and tell me which looks more beautiful.

Lol that car looks like a deformed hunchback of notre dame.
