It's about time for a new phone. I was automatically going to just upgrade my Blackberry from the 7290 that I have to the new 8700c from Cingular. Then I started to think about dropping the Blackberry altogether and going back to a regular phone. Can it be done? I'm not talking about from a technical standpoint, I mean from the 'been-addicted-to-email-all-the-time' standpoint. Part of me wants to break that habit, but then part of me wonders if I even can.
This is just a small part of the lifestyle changes I talked about the other day.

Give those thumbs a rest! I'd go for it, and who doesn't want to save some money from a second internet bill :P.

Hey Josh, Glad to hear you're on the mend and taking things easy. I've just changed over to the XDA-IQ. Its back to being a phone with the benefit of being wireless enabled. Best of both worlds I'd say.

Ouch, major withdrawl. Not sure if Betty Ford has a clinic ready for me to enter if I disconnect.
I did move 'up' from the 7520 to the 7100i and the smaller device with its predictive typing has caused me to email less with the phone and use the email as an urgent only device. My usage has gone down and my calls have increased but I am spending less time looking down and more time looking at the person acroos the table.

No, it cannot be done...especially for you. Just get a newer version...or a Treo.

Break the Crackberry addiction! :-) I'm sure you'll probably experience some withdrawal... but the end quality-of-life benefits will probably be worth it.

Go for two devices. Then you have the option to leave the blackberry behind during personal time (yes, there is such a thing).
I do this and it's a great way to set parameters.

I think dropping the blackberry would be a great option for everyone! It is really distracting when you are sitting next to someone or walking behind someone who is on their blackberry emailing away. Or even worse sitting across the dinner table from you and not peeling their eyes off the tiny screen to engage in one-on-one conversation. I feel if the topic is so important that it has to be discussed right away, and can not wait until the person you are corresponding with gets back to a computer, than you probably need to pick up the phone to discuss the issue anyway.
I know my mother and father would have a lot better relationship if he could just set the blackberry down!
