Hyku College Tour

+ Posted by Josh Hallett on 09.07.06 // 02:22 PM

Over the next few months I'll be visiting a few college campuses across the southeast. Three of them happen to be within the Southeastern Conference (SEC) and between them all, they have some great football rivalries.

The 'tour' starts later this month with a trip to Auburn University on Monday, Sept 25th. I'll have the pleasure of speaking with some of Robert French's students. Robert is well known within the PR/EDU blogging world and was the founder of Marcomblog.

The next trip is tentatively scheduled for Oct 9-10 at Florida State University. During my two-day stay in Tallahassee I'll be visiting some of Dr. Jay Rayburn's classes and some local PR firms.

In November I'll be at the University of Georgia on Monday the 13th for a day-long visit. While in Athens I'll be speaking to students in classes taught by Dr. Kaye Trammell and Dr. Karen Russell. We're also looking at doing something with the UGA PRSSA chapter.

Later that week I'll be in Gainesville, home of the University of Florida. I am speaking to the Gainesville chapter of the Florida Public Relations Association on November 16th. While in the area I am trying to schedule some other talks.

In most cases I'll be speaking to public relations students/groups about social media. I always enjoy the interaction with students and encourage others within the profession to reach out to your local schools.

Hey Josh! I am so excited to hear you are coming to Auburn University on September 25th! I am a PR major at Auburn, and I have had Robert French as a professor for several classes. He is a great professor, and it seems he has really put Auburn University on the map in the blogosphere world which is quite beneficial to us students. I look forward to hearing you talk about social media when you come to visit. I am in Robert French's PR style and design class so hopefully we will get to hear you speak. You are definitely right about there being some great football rivalries in some of the colleges you are visiting. Auburn and Georgia are always close games, and Georgia is one of our biggest rivals. Hope you enjoy your tour!

Hi Josh, I am a student at Auburn University as well as one of Robert's students. I had him for "Survey Research Methods" last semester and I'm in his "Style and Design" class right now. He's a great teacher; all of the students in Public Relations usually have him for at least one class and he's a favorite of everyone. I'm excited that our class will get the opportunity to meet you. You're visiting a bunch of great colleges, but get ready because Auburn is by far the BEST school in the south (I had to say it)! Looking forward to meeting you!

Hey Josh, I am also one of Robert French's students. I have him for "Style and Design" and also "Writing for Public Relations". I am excited about your up coming visit to us here at Auburn. We are doing a lot of interesting things in his class that I think you would enjoy hearing about. Hope all of your visits go well. I agree with Dallas, Auburn will be your best visit.

Hey, Josh. I'm in Robert's class and, quite frankly, he bores the heck out of me.

Oh, wait ... I am Robert. Hmm??

Anyway, I too am glad you're coming to Auburn. We have new toys and work to show you and share with you. The students are busy. I think you'll enjoy seeing what they're doing. And, you can give them advice and tips on how to make it better.

Take care.
