When I speak, I often show the University of Florida newsroom as a great example of how to use blog software for non-blog-specific uses. The site, located at: news.ufl.edu, uses Wordpress for content management of a traditional media relations site.
In the past week UF has added videoblogs to the mix of content available online. So far there are two video segments available for download. One on Reading Readiness and the other on a Pesticide Breast Impact study.
The site is truly a one-stop shop. In addition to the new video segments it also offers: podcasts, photographs, press releases, e-mail distribution, rss and an events calendar. If you're looking for a great example of how to develop an online newsroom, check out UF.

Hi Josh, you probably remember me as the executive producer for the Orlando Sentinel's interactive division.
I've been director of web communications at Virginia Tech since last December, and in my new job (and as a UF alum) I have looked to UF's news service as a model for what we're trying to accomplish here with VT News (http://www.vtnews.vt.edu). You'll see that we offer everything UF offers, though we organize things a bit differently.
I'm not sure the example you've posted, however, is a videoblog. It looks more like a video news release posted online. We recently produced something closer to a videoblog after the first-day-of-class crisis when Virginia Tech closed most of the university while an escaped convict and murdered was on the loose in Blacksburg. See a videoblog from the university's president at http://www.vtnews.vt.edu/video/20060821_steger.php.
Keep up the great work. I read your blog several times a week and always enjoy the topics you cover. I also appreciate your photography and camera info!

Hi Josh,
It is very interesting to see this being done at UF. I am currently a student at Auburn University, and as a public relations major, we are beginning to learn all of the different aspects of social media. We are currently using Wordpress in a news website that we developed as a class project in social media (www.loveliestvillage.org). I hope to one day work with a college or university, so it is great to see that I am learning skills that I will be able to apply in my career.

Same here! I presented it as an example at WordCamp in San Francisco (was talking about using WordPress for non-blog applications). It's a really well-done site, and a great example of WordPress' flexibility.
