Peter King's Monday Morning Quarterback is a must-read on Mondays for me. One of the items he always includes is a Coffeenerdness item. This week, he once again speaks the truth:
Most of those faux Starbucks joints, like the ones you see in hotels and some airports, ought to be shuttered. The one at the Westin in Chicago made one of the all-time grim lattes, an undrinkable one, the other day. That's par for the phony Starbucks course.I always loathe trips to the faux-Starbucks as Peter calls them.

It is good to see people identify a faux-Starbucks. A lot of customers do not recognize the difference and associate the poor service, low quality drinks with Starbucks. As a former employee of a "real" store and current regular customer of the coffee chain, I would like to note that licensed stores (those in a certain bookstore or an airport) do not have the same drink or service guidelines and only "Proudly Brew Starbucks". While there are several other misunderstandings about the company (they are not environmentally friendly, do not adequately pay farmers, etc.) I will stop there and thank you for mentioning it!
