USAToday's Super Bowl XLI Ad Meter Winner - Budweiser Crabs

USAToday has published their annual Ad Meter for the Super Bowl commercials. The winner is the Budweiser ad featuring the crabs. You can view the entire results chart here.

What was interesting about this year's Ad Meter was that USAToday broke out ads in the sub-category of 'Consumer Generated Ads'. The winner in that category, Doritos, with their guy/girl in car ad.

I found it particularly interesting how they determined these rankings. They did it by observing the reactions of 238 adult viewers in Houston, TX and McClean, VA. In contrast, TiVo released a list of which commercials were most paused, rewound and re-viewed in 10,000 sample households. Their list is here:
http://www.tivo.com/cms_static/press_135.html

1. Bud Light: Language Course with Carlos Mencia
2. Bud Light: Rock Paper Scissors
3. FedEx: Don't Judge
4. Nationwide: Kevin Federline Rollin' VIP
5. Doritos Crash the Super Bowl
6. CareerBuilder: Office Jungle
7. Blockbuster: Mouse
8. Doritos Crash The Super Bowl: Checkout Girl
9. Chevrolet: Everybody Loves a Chevy
10. Schick: Quarto Science

I liked the budlight commercial, but the Doritos commercial seemed a lot funnier and what made it amazing was the lack of funding. This commercial was produced on a $12.79 budget by five members all under the age of 22 - all Superbowl records. For more information on this ad, visit, http://promotions.yahoo.com/doritos/.

Thanks,

My favorite superbowl commercials are the ones that are aired on local television stations. Not the big bucks, multi-million dollar ads, but the ones that are about local business that matter..

Here is a local commercial here in Nashville concerning health care.. I think it is a great commercial - simple and to the point!
