In reality the title of this post is a misnomer. It's not hard to 'sell' Flickr at all. Why? Just about everybody I ever show Flickr to says, 'Wow, that's cool, where do I sign up?"
For organizations, especially non-profits, the big 'selling' point of Flickr is the photo resize function. If you're not familiar with it, when you upload a photo Flickr will automatically (or is it auto-magically) create up to six different sizes for you. You can then easily use any of these sizes on your web site or blog.

Above is a screenshot of the 'All Sizes' function. As you can see Flickr has created the following versions for me: Square 75x75, Thumbnail 67x100, Small 161x240, Medium 335x500, Large 687x1024 and Original 1074x1600. All I have to do is cut/paste the code into my page.
Once you get started Flickr also becomes somewhat addictive as Amber is finding out. I recently noted my 5000th photo, a few weeks later I'm now close to 7000.

Question: how does one make the "All Photos" feature available to other users? Amber and I just noticed the other day that we couldn't use each other's photos that way, but that it works with your photos.

Rusty:
Go to your account preferences -> Privacy & Permissions -> Download Settings...then edit to the level you want.
Here is a direct URL: http://flickr.com/account/prefs/downloads

Hey Josh,
To be more specific... "All sizes" is available, but there isn't any code to link to the photo available when I view Rusty's photos (for example). But when I view yours, there is.
Actually... I just noticed that it's there for SOME of yours, but not all. E.g., http://www.flickr.com/photos/hyku/423318268/in/set-72157600003388507/ this one has the code but this one http://www.flickr.com/photos/hyku/385449181/in/set-72157594527716118/ doesn't.
I scoured Flickr's FAQ and couldn't find anything. Sorry to suddenly make you the Flickr go-to guy.

Thanks for the tip - it is very timely for me for some client work I am about to launch.

I've been using flickr since you recommended it almost 2 years ago. I use it as a combination archive, showcase and client resource.

After attending the NewComm Forum, I set up a Flickr group for my company. It is my hope that customers who have purchased cars from CarMax will join the group and post photos of their cars.

Great tip, thanks. Was just wondering about that and said to myself "I'll bet Josh has something about that". ;-)
Am still using point-and-shoot but you're also starting to give me "DSLR envy".
