Last week I received the good news that one of my photos was going to be used in the print edition of BusinessWeek. They needed a photo of Randall Stephenson, the new CEO of AT&T.
I took a few photos of Randall last year at the Mplanet conference in Orlando. BW ended up using one of those in their June 18th issue, page 42 to be exact.

Wow. Sweet. So did you just get the photo credit, then?

I like the way you captured the bottom of his tag peaking out of his suit jacket. It says, "I'm buttoned down, but not completely perfect." So, Josh, the other question (aside from Kevin's "Did they pay you?" one) is this. I assume the photo editor discovered your shot on Flickr, no? In the past, such a search would have limited to stock houses or wire services. That a magazine photo editor for BusinessWeek is using Flickr for photo-sourcing is a significant "citizen's-photo-journalism" story.

Rex/Kevin:
I was paid for the photo :-)
And as far as I can tell the photo editor did a Google image search and found the image referenced in one of my blog posts, from there is was on to Flickr.

So if PR is really dead you've got a fallback position. ;-)
Congrats on the publication -- a nice reward.

Very cool. Seems you've launched a pro photo-blogger career. (smile)

Nice work Josh. The better question is, "How many of these do you have to sell before you pay off the expensive equipment?" Congrats, you give my husband hope.
