I have a new toy for the D80. It's a Nikkor 70-200mm f/2.8D G-AFS ED-IF VR Lens and as you can see it's big :-)

Nikon is loaning me the lens on consignment for a few months. I had planned to take it to BlogHer '07 but it arrived a bit too late. The lens would have worked out great during Elizabeth Edward's session.
I'll be using it at next week's FPRA Annual Conference and Gnomedex.

Good job Josh! You will absolutely love that lens in low light, sorta like most of the talks you shoot at. Yeah, it is an tad bit on the heavy side, but it is well worth the lugging around. Did Nikon provide the tele-converter also?
Now for your next lens:
Nikkor 17~55 f2.8 DX (the front objective is as large as the 70~200 at 77mm). BIG HONKING piece of glass. I bought that lens a week ago, and oh man, is it great for cycling and run shots. Here's your link: http://www.nikonusa.com/template.php?cat=1&grp=5&productNr=2147

Mark, I actually bought the 17-55 f2.8 DX in March and love it.

I want that tutorial on shooting speakers. And, I'm wondering how long it will take a certain troll to drop by this thread. Can't wait to see what you do with this lens.

Just goes to prove that I am a true blond Josh. I remember your mentioning it, but that was way back in March. Watch, now that I bought 17~55, they will finally come out with the mythical 17~70 f2.8. Enjoy the VR, just remember that it does slurp up the battery juices, but in low light, it rocks, steadily.

Gorgeous lens, I have the Canon version and use it probably 50% of the time.
