Tomorrow at SoCon08 I'll be leading a breakout on photography and Flickr. What are your favorite things/tips about Flickr? Share them in the comments so I can work them in :-)

Where I Work

Visitor Comments
From a PR point of view I love using Flickr to identify additional common interest communities related to my clients.
For example, I found Flickr to be an extremely important venues for Second Lifers while working to interact with that community.
Another benefit is that it can be a good venue for 'back-channel' communication for blogger outreach - it might be hard to reach someone by email, but easy once added as a Flickr friend.
Finally, it can be a good venue to drive traffic - for one of my clients we have a solid photo library there, all featuring relevant links back to the blog.
And personally - it's a lot of fun :)
Good luck with it mate!

I really like Flickr because it's a social network that actually encourages you to do/get better at what the site focuses on - photography in this case. It's not just a social network to be a social network. I have gotten so much inspiration from looking at other people's photos and have learned so much from reading and participating in the various forums.
I'm addicted to Flickr.

1. Learn to use collections and sets to organize photos in a way that helps people navigate your photo collection.
2. Tag aggressively. You never know how people find your photos. My most viewed photo is not one of my best. I happens to have been tagged with the name of a professional athlete that is popular. It is now one of the top "google image" searches related to the athlete's name.
3. Look for 'groups' related to the topics your photos may be of interest to. But be sure to observe the customs and personality of a group. Some are very precise in the type of photos they allow and if you start adding the wrong types of photos, get ready to be busted.
4. When naming a photo and writing a description, keep in mind that some people will be getting updates of via RSS. This of that title in the same way you write a heading on an blog post -- very specifically and 'keyword' friendly.
5. Comment on photos you like -- and 'favorite' photos you find memorable. It will help others discover that they may share in specific type of photographic interest.
I could go on all day w/ this Josh. Geez, maybe I should write a post or something.

As a feed on a remote website. I think that this makes tool like Flickr a remarkable resource. I love the community aspect, but I love that you can bring your pictures out of Flickr into multiple environments and then back into Flickr again.
