You always leave conferences like BlogNashville with a renewed sense of purpose and new friends. It was great to meet a number of people that write the blogs that you regularly read and meet some new folks that you will start reading.
When I arrived at the hotel late on Friday night there was a group in the lobby area that included Dave Winer, Rebecca McKinnon, Mark Glaser, Hossein derakhshan, Staci Kramer, Dan Gillmor and J.D. Lasica. I sat with them for a little bit and just listened to the conversation. It came up that I was the one that wrote the "Blog Movie" post. Staci thought that she should be played by Debra Winger and Dave Winer requested Sean Connery.

Kevin Howarth of TechLinks was also at the Dave Winer session yesterday and sent Dave his notes and thoughts from the afternoon. Go read them.
I agree with Rex, Kevin really gets what went on yesterday.
Kevin was in our group at dinner last night, great guy. Since I am in Atlanta quite a bit we'll probably meet up next time I am in GA.
We're in the Vince Gill Room waiting for Dave to start.
Dave's session was an out-growth of something he said during the 2004 Election. He knew that no matter who won the other side would not be happy. The election result would possibly cause the country to be ripped apart. So the question is how do we disagree with each other without burning bridges.
The purpose of this session is to debate on various topics but to keep the disagreement civil. Since many of the topics are political and religious in nature I probably will not blog much of this session.
Media Drop is live-blogging this session....so go there :-)
Or go to Scared Monkeys.
About 45 minutes in Dave has given up and has sat down, we are discussing amongst ourselves.

Missed the opening remarks....general comments:
Podcasting is not confined to broadcast limits, you can have an interview of 24 minutes with Bill Gates, no other medium can provide that.
J.D. Lasica says he likes that podcasts not only time-shifts media it also space-shifts. He can listen to the content in any location via his MP3 player.
Podcasting is a verb not a noun.

Dave Winer is sitting next to me. Dave says "Flickr is for sissies." Dave Winer has uploaded some photos from the previous session.
Packed house for Dan, we're just about to get started.

As usual, I am live-blogging so notes will be rough and I won't get everything :-) Staci's blog http://sdk.typepad.com/ Discussion specific page.
This is not a discussion of journalism vs. blogging. This is not a discussion about what's wrong with media or blogging. What this is about is committing journalism.
The US does not have the right to license journalists. Anybody can do it. It's up to you to build/earn your reputation. Sometimes working for a specific paper can get you started, but you still need to learn and earn your reputation.
Staci's definition of a journalist: They did not sign a oath, it's what they do for a living. Anybody who claims to be a journalist should adhere to certain journalistic ethics.
Bloggers committing journalism should.... we need to fill in the blank
